90210's Ryan Eggold and MUSICSTAR® Jam Session @ Walt Disney Hall

CW's "90210" actor Ryan Eggold joined students of MUSICSTAR®, an afterschool music program in Montebello, CA, as they made music together in front to Walt Disney Hall in downtown Los Angeles as part of a nationwide "Wanna Play?" flash jam on Tuesday May 4, 2010, organized by the NAMM Foundation to support awareness for music making and music education.
About MUSICSTAR®:
MUSICSTAR® provides afterschool music education programs for many schools in the Southland, including several schools in the Montebello Unified School District as part of that district's afterschool enrichment initiative "ELO" (Extended Learning Opportunities). ELO is headed by Adolfo Herrera. The students participating in the flashjam in front of Disney Hall came from Gascon Elementary School in Montebello, and are enrolled in the MUSICSTAR® Band program there under the direction of Band Director Mercedes Smith. Other MUSICSTAR® teachers involved in the event were Roy Thomas and Ashley Mendoza, both from Gascon Elementary..

About NAMM Foundation:
The NAMM Foundation supports recreational music making and music education. A 13-city flashjam was organized for Tuesday across the nation in front of iconic music buildings, such as the Kennedy Center and the Walt Disney Hall. The purpose of the event, which is part of NAMM's "WannaPlay? Music Week", was to invite people to come out and play music together.
