General Music classes are a great way of introducing
students of any age group to music. These
classes are fun and activity-filled. Playing hand
percussion instruments and singing as a choir offers
almost immediately gratifying group musical
experiences without the extended periods of
learning to play a musical instrument. The curriculum
explores the concept of rhythm through a wide variety
of ways, including movement exercises and playing
percussion instruments. Concepts of pitch and harmony
are further explored through the use of tuned percussion, such as
tuned tubes, as well as through the art of singing. Students experience
ensemble playing by performing music as a team, each one adding
their own unique part to the whole musical experience.
